D-street rally continues: Markets gain for 4th consecutive session; Nifty, Sensex hit record highs

The markets traded positively for the fourth consecutive session, gaining over half a percent and continuing the current uptrend.

Benchmark indices reached new record highs in today's session, with the Nifty 50 surpassing the 23,900 mark for the first time, hitting a fresh record high of 23,974 points and approaching the 24,000 level.

During the day, the Nifty touched the 24,000 mark. It took 23 sessions for the Nifty 50 to move from 23,000 to 24,000.

Meanwhile, the Sensex crossed the 79,000 mark for the first time, hitting a new lifetime high of 79,013 points.

IT and energy sectors were among the top gainers. Among individual stocks, five constituents of the Nifty 50 —UltraTech Cement, Grasim Industries, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank—touched new 52-week highs in today's trade.
