On June 5th, one day after the Lok Sabha election results, the National Stock Exchange created a world record in the number of transactions that it carried out in a single trading day.
In a tweet, NSE CEO Ashish Chauhan said that from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM, the NSE handled the highest ever number of transactions. 1971 crore, thats 19.71 billion orders and 28.55 crore, that's 280.55 million trades in a span of 6 hours and 15 minutes.

The Sensex and Nifty made a strong comeback on Wednesday, rallying over 3 per cent each after it became clear that the NDA was likely to go ahead and form the next Government of India.
This after markets faced a heavy drubbing a day earlier after an unexpectedly narrow win for the BJP led NDA along with the fact the BJP was unable to cross the halfway mark of 272 on its own.
However, PM Modi is expected to be sworn in for a third term on the 8th of June after allies TDP and JDU reiterated their support to the BJP.
