World’s largest coffee gaint, Starbucks adds to the team of big companies like Alphabet, Microsoft, Twitter, Chanel and Adobe Inc to name Indian-origin its new Chief Executive Officer.
55-years-old, Laxman Narasimhan, will join Starbucks as incoming CEO on October 1, 2022 and will be relocating to the US from London, will assume the role of CEO on April 1, 2023. Laxman Narasimhan was CEO of Reckitt and had joined the health and hygiene firm in September 2019 and was the first external candidate to take the helm at Reckitt since it was formed in 1999.
Prior to joining Reckitt, Laxman held various senior roles at PepsiCo from 2012 to 2019, including, Global Chief Commercial Office.
The incoming Starbuck CEO studied mechanical engineering at the University of Pune and then he headed west, picking up Masters in German and International Studies from The Lauder Institute at The University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
In his new role, Laxman will be thrust into one of the world’s most prominent corporate leadership roles, overseeing roughly 35,000 stores and 383,000 employees globally.
