Meet the first woman chief of SEBI: Madhabi Puri Buch gets appointed as SEBI Chairperson

Securities and Exchange Board of India(SEBI) has appointed Madhabi Puri Buch as the next Chairperson as incumbent SEBI chairman Ajay Tyagi steps down after a five-year stint.

Buch,the first woman to take up the post was the former head of ICICI Securities and served in SEBI between 2017 and 2021 a whole time director with the market regulator. Buch was the first woman from the private sector to be appointed Whole Time Member (WTM) of SEBI. 

An IIM-A alumunus, Buch's career spans over 2 decades having served in financial centres like Singapore and Shanghai.
