Petrol and diesel prices were hiked again on Thursday by 80 paise per litre, taking the total increase in fuel prices to Rs 6.4 a litre in 2 weeks. This was the 9th increase in 10 days.

The price of petrol and diesel in Delhi stood at Rs 101.81 per litre and Rs 93.07 per litre respectively today (increased by 80 paise). In Mumbai, the petrol and diesel prices per litre were at Rs 116.72 and Rs 100.94, respectively (increased by 84 paise).

In Chennai, the price of petrol was Rs 107.45 (increased by 76 paise) and diesel was Rs 97.52 (increased by 76 paise) and in Kolkata, the price of petrol was Rs 111.35 (increased by 83 paise) and diesel was Rs 96.22 (increased by 80 paise).

Rates have been increased across the country and vary from state to state depending upon the incidence of local taxation.
Fuel prices have been rising daily after a four-and-half-month long hiatus due to state elections.
