Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways said that if an average of 60% ethanol and 40% electricity is used, petrol will be accessible for ₹15 per litre and the general public will profit.
While addressing the public in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, Gadkari said, “If an average of 60% ethanol and 40% electricity is taken then petrol will be available at the rate of ₹15 per litre and the people will be benefitted. Pollution and import will reduce. The import is of ₹16 Lakh Crores, this money will go to the homes of farmers instead."
The Union Minister stressed that the government plans to make farmers into "annadata" (food providers) and "urjadata" (energy providers)
He said that farmers today are not only food providers but also energy providers by producing ethanol and solar electricity. From auto rickshaws to cars, vehicles will run on ethanol and India's import will reduce and farmers will prosper.
In Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, earlier on Tuesday, Nitin Gadkari marked the inauguration of construction on 11 national highway projects with a combined value of ₹5600 crore. Four national highway projects totalling 219 km and ₹3,775 crore were among them and were formally opened.
