In a step towards making environment friendly vehicles more accessible to customers, Indian automaker Tata Motors has launched its third electric vehicle in the country, the Tiago EV.
The electric hatchback is available at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom) and is offered in four variant options. The base variant can be opted with the smaller battery pack only, while rest of the variants do get both the options.
The price tag makes it the most affordable electric car in India with over 250 km range.
The brand will commence the bookings of the Tiago EV on 10 October, while its deliveries will start in January 2023.
As of now, there are no direct competitors for the Tiago EV. However, it will serve as a more affordable alternative to the upcoming Citroen C3 EV.
Tata Motors currently leads the passenger vehicle EV market in India, with a market share of around 88 per cent, with Nexon EV leading the sales charts.
