As 'revenge travel' becomes a trend, the one big hurdle that flyers are facing is the lack of visas. From Switzerland to Denmark embassies for most European countries are swamped with requests and some have stopped issuing short-term visas temporarily.

A spokesperson from VFS global was quoted by ET who said that the processing unit was "receiving approximately 20,000 applications from India in a day, which is close to the volumes recorded during pre-pandemic peak season."

Regular tourist visas for countries like the UK are taking over 45 days. While Denmark has no visa appointments available post July for short term visas due to the overload, the Swiss embassy has also informed travel agents that short visit visas are likely to see prolonged wait.
