Walmart appears to be getting ready for a leap into the metaverse and the crypto universe. Reports indicate that the American retail giant has filed for several trademarks on December 30th, suggesting plans to start selling virtual goods, including electronics, toys, appliances.
CNBC reports quoting the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office data that Walmart filed for these applications on December 30. In a separate filing, the Walton-family owned business said it would offer users a virtual currency, as well as NFTs.
As pointed out by Bloomberg, Walmart also filed trademarks for the names “Verse to Home,” “Verse to Curb,” and “Verse to Store,” a hint that Walmart may be preparing a virtual shopping experience as it gears to be part of the 'metaverse' experience.
