Ratan Tata's passing marks the end of an era for one of India's most iconic conglomerates. The big question now is: who will lead the Tata Trusts, which control the majority stake in Tata Sons?
Many eyes are on Noel Tata, Ratan Tata’s half-brother and a key figure within the Tata family.
Currently, Noel holds significant roles as Chairman of Trent and Tata Investment Corporation, and Vice Chairman of Titan and Tata Steel.
Noel began his career at Tata International and has successfully transformed Trent, the retail arm of the group, into a key player.
In 2010, there were speculations that Noel would succeed Ratan Tata as the Chairman of Tata Sons, but the baton went to Cyrus Mistry, his brother-in-law, and then to TCS veteran N Chandrasekaran.
Although Noel Tata didn't take over at Tata Sons, his responsibilities at Tata Trusts have increased in recent years. He is currently a trustee of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust and the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. It's anticipated that he will assume a bigger role within this group of Trusts.
The world is watching to see who will guide this massive multibillion-dollar conglomerate into the future. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
