On Women's day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted in X (formerly Twitter) that the government has decided to reduce the domestic LPG cylinder prices by Rs 100. In the post he mentioned that this will significantly ease the financial burden on millions of households across the country, especially benefiting our Nari Shakti.
He further went on to say that the decision comes in line with the government's commitment to empower women and ensure ‘Ease of Living’ for them.
The government had earlier approved the extension of a targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills per year for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the financial year 2024-25.
Earlier this month, the prices of Commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 25.5. Oil company majors including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL)regularly revise cooking gas prices on the 1st of every month.
