Days after a BJP worker, Mayur Munde constructed a temple for PM Modi in Pune, the bust of the prime minister has been removed from it, after he was pulled up by the BJP leadership in Delhi.

BJP and Shiv Sena have criticised the construction of the temple, which cost Munde ₹1.6 lakh. NCP city unit president Prashant Jagtap said constructing such a temple was a symbol of 'intellectual bankruptcy'.

Munde,  said the temple was his tribute to the prime minister who 'built Ram temple at Ayodhya'.

The bust has now been kept in the local BJP office, with Munde saying,  “We will not worship the bust but it will inspire party workers visiting the office.”
