ByteDance agrees to settle privacy lawsuit in US for $92 million

ByteDance, parent company to TikTok, has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit in the US for $92 million. The lawsuit against the Chinese tech giant alleged that TikTok collected private user data without user consent, in violation of an Illinois privacy law. TikTok was said to have harvested biometric user data, including facial and fingerprint scanning, without permission from users.
