In the first cabinet reshuffle and expansion since Prime Minister Modi took over for a second term in May 2019, 15 Cabinet ministers took oath on Wednesday. Among the 15 were 7 ministers of state who were elevated to the cabinet rank.

The 7 ministers are Kiren Rijiju who is Minister of State for Sports, Anuraj Thakur, the Minister of State for Finance, Hardeep Singh Puri who helms the Civil Aviation ministry and G Kishan Reddy, the junior minister for Home Affairs.
The remaining ministers of state who were elevated are Mansukh Mandaviya, Raj Kumar Singh and Parshottam Rupala who handle shipping, skill development and agriculture ministries respectively.
