Navjot Singh Sidhu has finally bowled out Captain Amarinder Singh on Punjab turf.

The veteran Congress leader resigned as CM on Saturday amid a revolt against him from the Sidhu camp MLAs.

50 MlAs had written to Congress chief  Sonia Gandhi seeking Singh’s ouster

Captain’s resignation comes ahead of the crucial Punjab assembly elections in 2022.

Speaking to reporters after submitting his resignation to the Governor, Amarinder Singh said he was 'feeling humiliated' as a result of the actions of the party high command. Singh added that he will consult with his supporters and decide on the future course of action

The Congress has been battling leadership issues in Punjab for months now.

Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu was declared the Punjab Congress chief in July after weeks of infighting and in face of strong opposition by Captain Amarinder Singh. Sidhu has been a vehement critic of the state government and took pot shots at Singh. Sidhu kept pulling up the government for not fulfilling the pre-poll promises.
