A doctor at a Covid facility in Assam's Hojai was brutally assaulted by the relatives of a patient who died on Tuesday allegedly due the shortage of Oxygen at the hospital. In a video of the shocking assault, a group of about a dozen men can be seen thrashing the doctor. The men are seen kicking and punching the doctor who is pinned down to the ground. One of the men is also seen pounding the doctor's head with a metal can. Reports said that the men attacked the hospital after their relative's death and most of the workers ran away. The doctor, Senapati, locked himself in a room. But the men barged in and started beating him mercilessly.

The mob then dragged the doctor out and kept beating him outside the hospital.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the police to investigate the attack and arrest those responsible. He added that such barbaric attacks on our frontline workers won't be tolerated.
