The centre issued an order to recall West Bengal's chief secretary following the PM Modi-CM Mamata Banerjee meeting row. Chief secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay was recalled by the Central government hours after Mamata Banerjee 'skipped' a meeting with PM Modi over damages caused by 'Cyclone Yaas'.

Bandyopadhyay's tenure was extended for three months just few days back on May 24.

The centre has now asked Bengal to send Bandyopadhyay to the Department of Personnel and Training's office in Delhi by May 31 morning.

A row ensued after Mamata arrived late for the meeting with PM and left soon after handing over documents related to the impact of the cyclone.

The Trinamool Congress criticised the centre's move to recall the top officer.
