Covid: 1 in 5 patients with comorbidities dies, shows data

Nearly one in every five patients, or 18% of the people, with so-called comorbidities who contract Covid-19 in India die of the viral disease, the Hindustan Times has reported quoting the health ministry data. The percentage of deaths among patients with no underlying medical conditions is just is 1.2%. This means that people with comorbidities are 15 times more likely to die if infected by coronavirus than those with no underlying conditions. Comorbidity refers to the existence of multiple medical conditions such hypertension, diabetes, heart, liver or kidney disease.
