The annual Art Basel fair in Miami Beach, scheduled to take place in early December, has been cancelled owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The decision has been taken keeping several factors in mind, including restrictions on international travel, need to avoid large-scale gatherings and quarantine rules.
Art Basel however has launched a host of digital initiatives, where it will host two editions of its 'Online Viewing Rooms'.
One edition dedicated to artworks created during 2020 which will be held from the 23rd to the 26th of September. The other dedicated to pieces created between 1900 and 1999 will be held from the 28th to the 31st of October.
