Covid-19 booster dose: Covishield, Covaxin prices slashed to ₹225

Manufacturers of Covid-19 vaccines Covishield and Covaxin have slashed the prices of the third dose or booster dose to ₹225 per shot at private hospitals. 

The move comes a day before the Covid-19 booster dose drive will be opened up for all people above 18 years of age. 

Adar Poonawalla, the owner of Serum Institute of India on Saturday announced that the price of Covishield has been brought down to ₹225 per dose from ₹600 for private hospitals. 

Meanwhile, Covaxin makers Bharat Biotech also issued a statement saying that they are bringing down the price of the Covid-19 vaccine to ₹225 from ₹1200. 

The govt had announced on Friday that April 10 onwards anyone above 18 years of age will be eligible to take the Covid-19 precaution dose provided nine or more months have passed since the 2nd dose.
