India on Tuesday reported less that 19,000 new Covid cases for the first time since March 11.
18,795 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours is 27.8 per cent lower than what was recorded on Sunday, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry. The country also reported 179 deaths, again a big dip from the 276 deaths reported a day ago.

A steady slowdown in the country has brought the number of active cases below the 3-lakh mark for the first time in six months. There has been a gradual decline in Kerala as well, with the daily count of cases below 20,000 for 10 days now.

The recovery rate in the country currently stands at 97.81 per cent which is the highest since March 2020, according to the Union ministry of health and family welfare on Tuesday.
In another milestone, India's daily Covid vaccination crosses the 1 crore mark for the fifth time on Monday. Till now, 87.07 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
