India’s Covid-19 death toll has soared past the grim one lakh mark while the number of positive cases are now nearing 65 lakh. According to the health ministry data on Saturday morning, 1,095 more people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 1,00,842. Over 83% of Covid-related deaths are concentrated to just 10 states. India is now third worst affected country in terms of Covid deaths after US and Brazil. The data showed that over 79,000 new infections were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the total caseload close to 65 lakh. There are now nearly 9.5 lakh active cases in the country while over 54 lakh people have so far recovered from the virus.
