Covid-19: Sputnik vaccine to be rolled out in India next month

Russian Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik V will be available for use in India next month with imports coming in from Russia. Local manufacturing will kick in from the July-September quarter, The Times of India has reported quoting top officials of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

Sputnik V received emergency use authorisation from the govt earlier this week. Dr Reddy’s has a contract with the Russian Direct Investment Fund for distributing 125 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine. The vaccine has proved to be 91.6% effective in clinical trials and is given in 2 doses in 21 days.
