For the second day in a row, India recorded a big jump in new Covid-19 cases.
12,591 infections were reported in one day, as per data released on the morning of April 20, 2023. This is the highest single-day increase in around 8 months, as per the news agency PTI.
A day earlier, 10,542 new cases had been recorded.
40 deaths were reported in 24 hours.
India's active caseload rose to 65,286.
