Chennai couple killed by domestic help, 9 kg gold, CCTV recorder taken; held before leaving India: cops

In a gruesome crime, a couple in Chennai was murdered a day after returning from the US. Police arrested the domestic help and his associate for allegedly killing 60-year-old Srikanth and his 55-year-old wife Anuradha.

The helper Krishnan and his friend Ravi believed that the couple had Rs 40 crore at their house from a recent real estate transaction. After allegedly killing the couple, they buried the bodies at the victims' farmhouse outside Chennai.

When police found the accused, they had jewellery worth Rs 5 crore. This included 9 kg gold.

The crime was discovered after the victims' daughter raised alarm after not being able to get in touch with her parents.

The accused were trying to escape to Nepal before being nabbed by police. Cops said they recovered important evidence including CCTV recorder from the accused.
