'IPL scam': man posed as player, duped women of ₹13 lakhs, say police

With IPL fever gripping the country as the final match approaches, an alleged scam in the Indian Premier League's name has been busted in Delhi.

A 24-year-old man allegedly posed as an IPL player, and duped an aspiring woman cricketer and her friend of ₹13 lakhs, police said on May 23, 2023.

He allegedly promised to get one woman enrolled into a Ranji team and vowed to help the other get a job at State Bank of India.

The accused, Gagan Sharma, has been arrested.
