A school principal in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra has been booked for allegedly siphoning Rs 11.46 crore of the Mid-Day Meal scheme.
An FIR registered against Chandrakant Sharma notes that he bungled the money with the help of officials of the basic education department and his family members.
A resident of Firozabad district, Sharma was working as a principal at a Primary School in Jajupur.
Police said to swindle the money, the Principal formed an NGO for which he used fake ration and identification cards in 2017.
According to the FIR, the teacher had made his father the president of the NGO, his mother the manager and secretary, and his wife a treasurer.

He also designated other family members and relatives to various positions in the NGO.
With the help of some officials, the police said, Sharma’s NGO got contract for distribution of Mid-Day Meal in basic education department schools of Firozabad.
He had withdrawn an amount of Rs 11,46,48,500 from the bank account of his NGO with the help of the officials and staff and transferred that amount into the bank accounts of his wife and children in Agra banks.
