Rape accused tries to rape doctor in Delhi jail washroom, DCW issues notice to cops

A woman doctor escaped a sexual assault by a prisoner who is in jail in a rape case in Delhi’s Mandoli Jail.  
 
The incident that took place on September 26 has prompted the Delhi Commission for Women to issue a notice to Director General of Prisons. 
 
The panel said the victim was a resident doctor and had treated the accused earlier.  
 
The doctor told the panel that when she went to the washroom, she found that the accused was already hiding there. According to DCW, the prisoner attempted to rape the doctor but she managed to escape and alert the security staff. 

News reports identified the accused as Subrat Pillai, who was imprisoned in two cases of crime against women. Authorities have booked him for molesting a woman and attempt to rape and murder.
