Tension prevailed in Karnataka's Shivamogga a day after a man was allegedly attacked by some men shouting anti-RSS slogans.

Police on 25 October 2022 said that security had been strengthened after 25-year-old Prakash claimed that three men attacked him when he was returning home from a bus stand.

Prakash said that he was punched, kicked, and hit with stones. He said that the assailants continued to thrash him even as he fell on the ground. When he tried to get up, he was hit in the face and on the head, and the wound started bleeding.

Prakash said that he somehow ran towards his home, but the attackers continued pelting stones at him. He reached safety after entering his house. Prakash was hospitalised with minor injuries.

He said that he did not know the assailants, but they shouted slogans and insults against RSS and Hindutva activists.

Police said that there was no need to panic and the situation was under control. Cops said that check-posts have been erected and patrols are doing the rounds.

In February 2022, a Bajrang Dal member named Harsha was killed in Shivamogga, leading to communal flare-ups.
