Cristiano Ronaldo who recently returned to Manchester United in a deal worth $19m has surpassed Lionel Messi as the highest-paid footballer, as per the latest rankings released by Forbes.
While CR7 is set to earn $125m this season, the long-time Barca player, who recently joined Paris Saint Germain will earn $110m in the 2021-22 season. The Portuguese player who is only behind Roger Federer, Lebron James, and Tiger Woods in terms of making money commercially, will earn $36m from endorsements alone. His arch-rival, Messi will get $35m from commercial deals.

Following Ronaldo and Messi are Neymar with $95m, Kylian Mbappe ($43m), and Mohammed Salah ($41m). According to Forbes, the top 10 highest-earning footballers will earn $585m before taxes this season, a $15m jump from last year.
