It may have been Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the 2020 IPL opener but all eyes were on MS Dhoni as the former India captain returned to the cricket field after 437 days. His decision to bowl first proved right as Mumbai were restricted to 162/9. Chennai's run-chase began on a disastrous note as they lost both their openers within the first 2 overs. But Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu's 115-run stand brought CSK back into the contest. Though they had a few hiccups towards the end but du Plessis took Chennai over the finish line with an unbeaten 58 with 5 wickets to spare. Mumbai Indians who have never won an IPL opener since 2013, have failed to register a win in UAE, they have lost all 6 previous encounters. CSK also washed away their stains of the previous season where they had lost all of their 4 games against the Mumbai Indians.
