Cyclone Tauktae: BMC moves 580 Covid-19 patients, 4 dead in Karnataka

Cyclone Tauktae has intensified into very severe cyclonic storm and the Met department has said that the cyclone is likely to pass close to Mumbai and may cause heavy rainfall in the city.  As a precaution, the BMC has shifted 580 patients from Covid care centres in the city, and officials are also contemplating a possible shut down of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. 

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has formed 100 teams and they are being deployed in the coastal regions of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

In Karnataka, four people have lost their lives and 73 villages have been affected by cyclone Tauktae. The storm resulted in heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over 6 districts in the past 24 hours.
