A day after deadly clashes on Assam-Mizoram border left 5 Assam police personnel dead, the central government has assured that the situation in the area is under control.

The Home Ministry said it's keeping a tab on the situation, and that the "CRPF troops are deployed to keep a check on both sides".

Earlier, on Monday home minister Amit Shah had spoken to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga about the volatile situation and urged them to resolve issues.

Sarma and Mizoram Home Minister Lalchamliana will also be visiting the border area in their state to assess the situation.

The situation along the Mizoram-Assam border has been on the boil since June-end when Assam Police allegedly took control over an area known as 'Aitlanghnar'.
