In a major relief for animal lovers and wildlife activists, Delhi could get its first wild animal rescue centre.

According to reports, forest department officials shared that the centre will most likely come up in a 1.24-acre plot in Rajokri, where a monkey rescue centre is currently lying abandoned.

It will have three five-member rapid response teams to rescue and rehabilitate animals here.

The funds for the same have been sanctioned by the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority and it should be ready by the end of the year.
