Delhi: Minor Dalit girl allegedly gangraped and killed, body forcibly cremated

In a horrific incident in the Capital, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped, murdered and her body forcibly cremated by her assaulters.

The police have detained a priest in the case along with three others and investigations are on.

The child from a poor, Dalit family lived with her parents in Purana Nangal in the Delhi Cantonment area, close to the crematorium.

She had gone to the crematorium on Monday evening to fetch drinking water from the cooler but never returned.

Around 6 pm, her mother was called to the crematorium and was shown the body. She was reportedly told that the girl got elctrocuted from the cooler and that she should not inform the police as that would lead to a post-mortem.

Later, the family raised an alarm and around 200 villagers of old Nangal village gathered at the crematorium. The police was informed.
