Delimitation panel starts 4-day J&K visit today to meet parties

The Delimitation Commission led by Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai will begin its four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The commission will interact with political leaders and civil society groups to gather first-hand inputs to carve out new constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The commission's visit comes within a fortnight of the high-level meeting of eight political parties from Jammu and Kashmir with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on June 24.

Leaders of BJP, Congress, National Conference, CPI, CPM, BSP, Panthers Party, J&K People's Conference & J&K Apni Party will meet the Delimitation Commission. Only Mehbooba Mufti led PDP has not confirmed its participation yet

The commission has invited the leaders of all national, regional and registered political parties of Jammu and Kashmir for separate meetings during its visit to the union territory.
