Dia Mirza pledges Rs 40 lakh to the families of India's forest guards

Dia Mirza is a nature lover and loves to help out those in need. She is a voice of change for conservation and she will turn 40 on December 9.

Ahead of her birthday, Dia decided to donate Rs 40 lakh to the families of frontline forest warriors who lost their lives during the ongoing pandemic.

She has requested her fans and followers to not send her flowers or gifts instead make a donation to the Wildlife trust of India, to help India's forest warriors.

"On my birthday this year, I would like to take the opportunity to request all those who may want to send me flowers or gifts to instead make a donation to WTI to help our VanRakshaks. There could be no better birthday gift! Your gift will help support the bereaved families of India’s ‘Guardians of the Wild’ who lost their lives to Covid 19 while protecting our natural heritage." she said.

She also added, beginning with her 40th birthday on 9 December, for the next 40 days, she will donate a lakh each day and hoped that all her fans will contribute alongside her, to maximise our collective impact!"

Wildlife Trust of India's (WTI) Conservation Heroes Covid Casualty Fund provides an ex-gratia of INR 100,000/- and a scroll of honor to the next of kin of the fallen heroes.
