Will farmers' year-long agitation end today? Farmers leader Rakesh Tikait sat down with Editorji's Rohit Vishwakarma to discuss the course of the protest.

In the interview, Tikait complained that there is no point person from the side of the government, and the farm leaders get messages from unknown Whatsapp numbers. He added that the farm leaders all reply to the same WhatsApp numbers.

Tikait said that the farmer's issues would have been resolved long back if the government agreed to talks and their demands.

The Modi government has scrapped farm laws and the farmer's are now demanding a legal guarantee for MSP. The farm groups are also demanding compensation for those who lost their lives during the year-long agitation.

In a significant development on Tuesday, the centre had indicated its willingness to offer a written assurance on almost all of the farmers' demands, including a committee on MSP and the dropping of all cases - those filed during the protests and those related to stubble burning.

The farm unions are holding discussions on the Centre's proposal and the agitation is likely to end soon.
