CricBait | MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings are aiming for their 4th IPL title but standing in their way will be Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of the IPL tonight. Who will win the clash of former World Cup winning captains? Yash Chawla in conversation with Yash Jha, CricCrazyJohns, Khyati Patel and Lav Vaid
It will be a repeat of the 2012 IPL final as Chennai Super Kings take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the final game of IPL 2021 in Dubai on Friday. But it will be tough for the 2-time winners KKR to emulate the feat in 2021 considering their form, Chennai's form, and the tricky surface in Dubai. The Knights from Kolkata are on a roll and have won 5 out of their last 6 games despite a non-performing middle order. Led by Eoin Morgan, KKR has managed to turn their fortunes around in the UAE leg but the team is still waiting for their skipper to fire with the bat. Andre Russell could get the game ahead of Shakib al Hasan owing to the flat deck in Dubai but all eyes will be on the spin twins Varun Chakravarthy & Sunil Narine.

Chennai on the other hand has beaten KKR in both matches this season and will be aiming to repeat that formula in Dubai in order to win their 4th IPL title in 9 finals. Dhoni's men might not have been extraordinary in the tournament but substantial contributions from everyone in the side have ensured that the Yellow Brigade is in the final after last year's horror show. To counter KKR's spin twins, the opening combo of Chennai will be in focus as both Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have scored 500+ runs this season.

With the tournament having being postponed due to the killer 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India, the teams in IPL were forced to regroup and play in the UAE and a high-octane final will be a perfect tribute to this extra-ordinary edition of the tournament.
