What lessons can we learn from the government's 'Namami Ganga'?

DP Mathuria showcased that importance that Ganga and the associated plains have on our economy and the impact that the 'Namami Ganga' project has had in this area specifically. It begs the question, can the same lessons be applied on the other rivers of India to revive them as well?
