The factionalism in AIADMK cost the party dearly in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. The party which is currently led by Edappadi K Palaniswami failed to win even a single seat.

Smelling an opportunity, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam has now called for reuniting the two factions.

However, former state Minister K P Munusamy of the EPS camp dismissed the appeal as nothing but an attempt to create confusion.

While the EPS and OPS camps continue to be at loggerheads, the unexpected beneficiary turned out to be the BJP, which emerged at the second place in 12 seats in the state.
