Frantic appeals for Oxygen by the Embassy of the Philippines, the New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi on Sunday kicked up a diplomatic row.

The embassies tweeted appeals to the youth wing of the opposition Congress for medical oxygen amid the frightening Covid-19 crisis that has crippled the healthcare system.

The New Zealand mission was quick to delete the tweet. The Congress, however, live-tweeted its delivery of the medical oxygen, adding that the patient inside was "critically ill" and also shared photos on social media.

A bitter exchange between senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar followed with the Ministry of External Affairs advising foreign missions "not to hoard essential supplies, including oxygen"
