Hardik Pandya's exclusion from India's Test squad for the World Test Championship final and the England tour raised many eyebrows. Once considered one of the best all-rounders with the red ball, Pandya is now not even in the team that is playing the final of the inaugural World Test Championship. According to a report in the Times of India, Pandya's inability to bowl in the longest format pushed him out of the team. Interestingly, captain Virat Kohli spoke a lot about managing Pandya's workload during the home series vs England but the allrounder only bowled a few overs in the T20 series & once during the ODIs. The report suggests that the selectors are no longer considering Pandya for Test cricket now and will focus on him as a pure batter for white-ball cricket. Pandya underwent back surgery in 2019 and since then has changed his action to relieve some stress but the report suggests that his shoulder has now flared up and the cricketer is finding it tough to manage the workload.
