Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request to speak at the 95th annual Academy Awards was turned down, reported Variety. He will be missing out on the Academy Awards for the second year in a row.

According to sources, WME power agent Mike Simpson made a plea to the Academy to include the actor-turned-politician but it was rejected.

This comes after Americans’ support for providing assistance to Ukraine has weakened. Representatives for the academy, WME, and ABC have not commented on the matter so far.

After Russia invaded Ukraine, Zelensky appeared at several awards shows and events and tried to bring focus to the ongoing war. In April last year, Zelensky had appeared virtually at the 64th Grammy Awards.

Oscars 2023 is all set to be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. In India, the prestigious award event will be broadcast on March 13. Jimmy Kimmel will host the Oscars after 2018.
