Amul celebrates Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain's Shakti for Grammy win with 'Garammy Garam' shoutout!

Shakti, with legends Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, Shankar Mahadevan, V Selvaganesh, and Ganesh Rajagopalan, triumphed at the Grammy Awards in LA on February 5. Their album, The Moment, earned the prestigious Global Music Album award at the event.

Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the band from all directions, honouring their outstanding accomplishment. In a delightful twist, Amul India, a well-known dairy brand, also extended their congratulations to the team in their distinctive manner.

They shared an animated image on Instagram showcasing Hussain, Mahadevan, Selvaganesh, and Rajagopalan proudly holding their Grammy trophy. The caption reads, ‘For a 'Garammy Garam' snack, Amul presents Shakti.’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, radiating pride, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the winners on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, ‘Congratulations @ZakirHtabla, @Rakeshflute, @Shankar_Live, @kanjeeraselva, and @violinganesh on your phenomenal success at the #GRAMMYs! Your exceptional talent and dedication to music have won hearts worldwide. India is proud! These achievements are a testament to the hard work you keep putting in. It will also inspire the new generation of artists to dream big and excel in music.’

In addition to the Prime Minister, renowned composers AR Rahman and Ricky Kej joined the celebration. Rahman shared a selfie from the awards, highlighting the multiple Grammy wins for India, including #ustadzakirhussain (3 Grammys), @shankar.mahadevan (first Grammy), and @selvaganesh (first Grammy).

Ricky Kej, a three-time Grammy winner himself, emphasized India's triumph on this special night.

Despite stiff competition, Shakti clinched the Grammy for Best Global Music Album, surpassing artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.

Adding to the remarkable achievements, Zakir Hussain secured the Best Global Music Performance Grammy for his collaboration on Pashto with Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, featuring acclaimed flute player Rakesh Chaurasia. This unforgettable night marked Hussain's three Grammys and Chaurasia's two awards, highlighting their immense talent and substantial contributions to the global music landscape.
