Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s daughter Khatija Rahman is all set to make her debut as a composer with the upcoming Tamil film ‘Minmini’, directed by Halitha Shameem.

Halitha has expressed her happiness on Twitter by sharing a photo of herself with Khatija at AM Studios in Chennai. ‘So happy to be working with this exceptional talent, Khatija Rahman for #MinMini. The euphonious singer is a brilliant music composer too. Some great music underway!’ she tweeted.

Khatija has garnered immense praise for her consecutive contributions to movie songs and a sensational debut on Coke Studio. After her splendid rendition of the song ‘Chinnanjiru Nilave’, composed by AR Rahman, in Mani Ratnam’s epic action-adventure film ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’, Khatija will now follow in the footsteps of her father.

Recently, Coke Studio launched its inaugural Tamil edition and they chose rapper and playback singer Arivu and Khatija to perform the first song, ‘Sagavaasi’.

The song, an ode to mother nature, was a ‘celebration of the bond humans share with nature’. It earned 22 million views on YouTube.

‘Minmini’s shooting began in 2015 but it was suspended in 2018. Announcing the decision, Halitha tweeted, ‘We filmed #Minmini’s first half in 2015. It is purely a creative decision to shoot the ‘second half’ in 2019. These young actors were so awesomely natural that we decided to wait for a few years for them to grow up rather than casting some other actors to play their elder versions.’
