‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ hit the theatres on July 21 globally amid all the buzz. Even though the Greta Gerwig directorial did not live up to the hype around it in India and made Rs 5 crore on its first day, internationally it has beaten the Christopher Nolan directorial 'Oppenheimer'.
According to a Deadline report, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's 'Barbie' collected 41.4 million USD in 51 international markets. On the other hand, Cillian Murphy's 'Oppenheimer' earned 15.7 million USD across its 57 markets.
While in India, according to Sacnilk.com, 'Barbie' earned ₹5 crore net on its first day. Reports say that Greta Gerwig directorial had sold 16000 tickets in advance across the three multiple chains, PVR, INOX and Cinepolis, for the opening day.
As per a report in The Independent, 'Barbie' is estimated to earn $110 million at the US box office during opening weekend, while Oppenheimer is likely to mint $50m.
