Actor Vikrant Massey is garnering immense praise for his role in ‘12th Fail’ with some even suggesting his name for the National Award.
Now, Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra Group, has commended the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial and called it an ‘excellent watch’. He specifically lauded Vikrant Massey for his moving performance.
Anand Mahindra wrote, ‘Finally saw ‘12th FAIL’ over this past weekend. If you see only ONE film this year, make it this one. Why? (1) Plot: This story is based on real-life heroes of the country. Not just the protagonist, but the millions of youth, hungry for success, who struggle against extraordinary odds to pass what is arguably one of the most competitive exams in the world.’

The entrepreneur commended the storytelling approach in ‘12th Fail’ and emphasized that Vidhu Vinod Chopra effectively underscores the importance of ‘great cinema’ being rooted in ‘great stories.’ He highlighted that the simplicity and authenticity of a well-told story surpass any special effects, making it a powerful cinematic experience.
‘The highlight for me was the interview scene. Yes, it may seem a bit contrived, but the profound dialogue makes this sequence hit you squarely between the eyes and shows you what India must do to build a new Bharat. Mr Chopra, yeh dil maange more films like this!,’ he wrote.

‘12th Fail’ is based on a book by Anurag Pathak. The film put a spotlight on the rise of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma and how his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, was instrumental in it. The film is currently streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
In the movie, Vikrant portrays the character of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who triumphs over dire poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. His portrayal, along with the film itself, has received widespread acclaim from the audience and industry peers, including Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone.
