Abhishek Bachchan returns to ‘Housefull’ franchise, set to join Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh

Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Housefull 5’ is all set to go on floors in August and Abhishek Bachchan has been confirmed to join the fun ride. The actor is returning to the fifth installment of the superhit franchise. The update was shared by the makers on their social media account.  

Abhishek Bachchan joins ‘Housefull 5’ 

Abhishek will join Akshay Kumar and Riteish Kumar in the upcoming film. Production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment shared the news of Bachchan’s casting on its official X page. “We’re pleased to announce @juniorbachchan joining the Housefull fam once again, we’re happy to have you back. #SajidNadiadwala’s #Housefull5 Directed by @Tarunmansukhani @akshaykumar @Riteishd @WardaNadiadwala,” the banner said in the post. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, ‘Housefull 5’ will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani, known for ‘Dostana’ and ‘Drive’.  

Sharing his excitement, Abhishek said in a statement, “Housefull is one of my favourite comedy franchises and coming back feels like returning home. It’s always been a great pleasure to work with Sajid Nadiadwala. I am looking forward to having mad fun on the sets with my fellow actors Akshay and Ritesh. I’m also so excited to collaborate again with my dear friend Tarun Mansukhani. I’m really looking forward to working with him again after Dostana. This is going to be a lot of fun.” 

While Abhishek previously featured in the third Housefull film in 2016, Akshay and Riteish were part of the first film of the franchise and have appeared in the other parts as well.  

About ‘Housefull’ franchise 

The ‘Housefull’ franchise has four films so far. The first film ‘Housefull’ was released in 2010, followed by three sequels- ‘Housefull 2’ (2012), ‘Housefull 3’ (2016) and ‘Housefull 4’ (2019). The upcoming film will be reportedly shot in the UK on a cruise liner. While the shooting will commence in August 2024, the film is likely to be released on June 6, 2025.
