Actor Sameer Khakhar, who is best known for his role as Khopri in the TV show ‘Nukkad’, passed away in Mumbai in the wee hours of Wednesday. He was 71. Sameer's cousin Ganesh Khakhar told ETimes that the actor died due to multiple organ failure.
He said, ‘He was suffering from respiratory issues, then he went to sleep and went unconscious. We called the doctor and he suggested that we admit him in the hospital. His heart was not working properly and had urinatory issues too. He was kept on ventilator, gradually he collapsed at 4:30am this morning.’
Sameer Khakhar’s funeral was held at Babhai naka crematorium in Borivali.
In a career spanning nearly four decades, Sameer Khakhar worked in multiple TV shows, films and Gujarati plays. He starred in shows such as ‘Manorajan’, ‘Circus’, ‘Naya Nukkad’, ‘Shrimaan Shrimati, and ‘Adaalat’. Recently, he played a supporting role in Sudhir Mishra’s Netflix film ‘Serious Men’, the ZEE5 series ‘Sunflower’ and Prime Video’s ‘Farzi’.
He also played key roles in films like ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’, and ‘Jai Ho’.
